Welcome to Sreemanta Sankar Mission

Started in the year 1986 under the aegis of philanthropist and thought leader Shri Bhabendra Narayan Dutta Baruah, Sreemanta Sankar Mission strives to contribute towards a healthy and economically sound society. The NGO focuses on multiple aspects of development, inclusive of better access to healthcare, education, creation of livelihood opportunities and empowering societies at large. Over the years, Sreemanta Sankar Mission has conducted several health camps in remote areas, empowered the entrepreneurial journey of womenfolk in the region and took a holistic stand towards solving the societal issues in Northeast India.

Uplifting Women Entrepreneurship

Despite the entrepreneurship gap between men and women, it is widely considered that women leaders in business have specific qualities that makes them unique.

Vasundhara NE Women Entrepreneur is one such program that aims to salute this resilience and power by honouring a few of North East India's iconic women who represents various disciplines and channels of thought, duly reflected in their lives and work. This is how Vasundhara transformed into a movement deciding to specifically concentrate on the economic transformation of women through their enterprising quality out of nothing.

Senior Citizen Welfare

Volunteering to help aging seniors through health outreach programs and finding trusted, affordable resources for financial help, personal care, activities, medical issues and more.

Covid Relief

Efforts to reintroduce Community-based health care, including outreach and campaigns, thus maintaining essential health services and strengthening the COVID-19 response during the COVID-19 pandemic

Disaster Management

Engaging communities to deal with natural and man-made disaster risks. Acknowledge preparedness to face disasters at all levels right from the household to community level thus minimizing its impacts.

Livelihood Training

Aimed at empowering the rural people of the chosen project area and providing them a sustainable livelihood option through commercialization of their products

Bio Gas Project (ONGC)

Initiatives to develop renewable fuel production produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste and food waste.

Menstrual Hygiene Campaign

Access to affordable and effective menstrual hygiene products (MHP) which is critical to the menstrual health of adolescent girls and young women in rural areas

Conducting free health camps aimed at prevention of disease and dissemination of health related instructions given by medical team to the general public

Engaging communities in different short duration training programs thus intending to create a brand which will find itself on the shelves of prominent outlets across the country and abroad

Northeast Entrepreneurs’ Intellectual Property Seminar & Showcase

in association with The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati in association with The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) organized a NORTHEAST ENTREPRENEURS’ INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SEMINAR & SHOWCASE for the women-focused small business units, entrepreneurs, creators and artisans of Northeast India on 13 & 14 February, 2023 at Hotel Imphal By The Classic, Imphal, Manipur and on 15 & 16 February, 2023 at NEDFi House, Guwahati, Assam.

Anubhav

Project Anubhav is a holistic programme conceptualized by Sreemanta Sankar Mission to build a Medical Care Home in Guwahati for the outstation terminally ill & cancer patients. The care home will offer accomodation for both patients and their attendants (caregiver) at a highly affordable cost which can sustain their long-term treatment scope in the city spanning over several months at a time.

Community Development

This particular project is aimed at empowering the rural people of the chosen project area and providing them a sustainable livelihood option through commercialization of water hyacinth has natural fibre. It further aims to extend specialist and technical guidance for processing of water hyacinth plants into natural fibres for bulk supply.

Assam Flood Relief 2022

Assam experienced its worst flood ever in the year 2022. According to a statement from the Central Water Commission, eight rivers were flowing over high flood levels in June, and three rivers are flowing above the danger level. In recent days, landslides have also been recorded in Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Morigaon, Kamrup, and Kamrup (M). Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Cachar, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Nalbari, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, and Udalguri districts were among those with the most flood damage.
