Celebrating Womanhood

The journey of Vasundhara began in the year 2012 when Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati decided to celebrate the spirit of womanhood on the occasion of International Woman’s Day that year. The endavour was christened as ‘Vasundhara’ to emphasize the inherent unit of life on planet earth.

What was conceived as an event to celebrate the positive spirit of womanhood quickly took the shape of a small movement to honour and salute women in a country presently beset with prejudice against women. However, it was gratifying to note that notwithstanding the enormity of the challenge facing them, women continue to rise up to the challenge and prove themselves worthy of the society in which they live.

Vasundhara NE Women Entrepreneur is one such program that aims to salute this resilience and power by honouring a few of North East India's iconic women who represents various disciplines and channels of thought, duly reflected in their lives and work. This is how Vasundhara transformed into a movement deciding to specifically concentrate on the economic transformation of women through their enterprising quality out of nothing.
